PC Gaming being ended by Microsoft with (UWP) Universal Windows Platform

(UWP) Universal Windows Platform is applications of programming for developers of Windows 10. This allows them for creating software versions singly for running across all devices of Windows. This includes smartphones, Xbox One, PCs and tablets. Companies have slated unveiling details of UWP more in this month at Build events.

UWP however have gained also ire of Tim Sweeney, co-founder of Epic Games. This is studio at back of Unreal and Gears of War franchises. As per Sweeney, UWP are closed platforms. Meaning is that developer needs approval of Microsoft for game distribution on Windows 10. Results are that Microsoft controls sales of PC apps and games.

There are consideration factors that UWP only titles shall be present on Windows Store. There is launching of newer features of PC Windows by Microsoft in UWP exclusively. This tells effectively to users that you could use features of Windows if only you provide submission to controlling of locking down of ecosystems of UWP. This Sweeney wrote in “Guardian”.

There is curtailing of freedom of users for installing PC fully featured software. There is subverting of publishers and developers rights for maintaining relationships directly with customers. Problems specifically here are that shiny new Microsoft’s UWP are by defaults being impossible for down-loading apps of UWP from websites for updating them, installing them and conducting commerce with them out of Windows Store.
